Discover Timeless Craftsmanship at Brokerud
I'm Christian Brokerud, a woodworker who fell into the craft almost by accident during the pandemic. When my wife and I were renovating an old barn for our wedding, I discovered a talent for wood repairs and building things by hand. I've been hooked ever since.
I love woodworking because it taps into my lifelong interests in creating things, problem-solving, and working with tools and machines. The unlimited creative possibilities and constant challenge of learning new skills makes every project exciting and rewarding.
As a self-taught craftsman, I've steadily acquired skills and techniques over the past few years. I work almost intuitively, letting the wood itself guide the final product. My pieces are meant to make an impression, like art. I want viewers to feel compelled to touch the wood and interact with it. I specialize in unique, one-of-a-kind designs made from beautiful hardwoods like walnut, maple, and mahogany.
Thank you for your time and support,
Meet the Team
The team behind Broker Design is small but mighty, it's just me and my wife running the show! I handle everything from initial design concepts to final installation. My lovely wife, Danielle, runs the business and marketing end of things while workshop dogs, Ira and Graham, provide comic relief and cleanup assistance.
I work out of my well-equipped home workshop specializing in furniture, accent pieces, and unique wood elements for residential and commercial spaces.

A small business, proudly producing American-made products and supporting local economies
At Brokerud Design, we are proud to be an American-based small business. Located in the Chicagoland area and serving clients nationwide, I am committed to keeping my entire design and production process based in the USA. All wood is ethically sourced from domestic suppliers, supporting stateside artisans, craftsmen, and local economies. My one-person workshop allows for total oversight and a hands-on process from concept to installation. I take pride in crafting heirloom-quality creations that will stand the test of time while honoring domestic production.
